Coastal News Compass

Editorial policy

Coastal News Compass aims to make coastal subjects understandable without smoothing away complexity. We value accuracy, clear sourcing, independence, and corrections readers can see.

Accuracy and sources

We check factual statements against suitable published material and use sources that fit the subject, such as established reference works, public information, and relevant specialist writing. We take care with dates, definitions, and claims about how a coastal feature forms. If evidence is incomplete or explanations vary, we say so rather than presenting one account as settled fact.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for the usefulness and clarity of the subject, not to favour a product, service, place, or partner. A commercial relationship does not determine our conclusions. We do not imply that a general article can replace local information or expert assessment where those are needed.

Corrections

Readers can report a possible error through the Contact page. We review specific, relevant reports and correct confirmed mistakes in the article. When a change materially affects the meaning, we add a clear correction note explaining what changed; minor edits for spelling or clarity may be made without one.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid placements and material produced with a partner are clearly labelled near the content, so readers can distinguish them from independent editorial work. Partners do not approve or control unrelated articles. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where used, they are identified as illustrations and are not presented as documentary photographs.
